The Oxon Bangers – pulling together. . .

The Oxon Bangers open shoot on 1st May at Common Leys was such a success that they are doing it all over again on the 3rd July.

About 45 attended the Oxon Bangers’ second outing, comprising Oxfordshire Freemasons, their family and friends, male and female. For those who had never shot before, there was a ‘Have a Go’ session where each participant had their own qualified coach to show them the ropes on a simpler stand, with some easy clays. The rest attempted the 100 ‘bird’ English Sporting Traps, with 10 clays at each of the 10 stands, where the banter and camaraderie was top notch. Afterwards most retired to the stunning shooting lodge (complete with exceptional bar and beautiful gardens) to quench their thirst and to catch up. The day was completed by prize giving, where unusual trophies were awarded!

The ‘Great Pair’ trophies were won by Tom Boardman for his outstanding pair of red trousers, and to Emily, for her great pair. . . of shots at a clay, of course! (I apologise for Waggy – Ed.) Mark Lovejoy who was accompanied by his brother (sibling) and father won the Wingnut Trophy for forgetting the main trophy, the S&%T Hot Shot Boot, which was won by a novice, the daughter of Owen Mott, the WM of Temple Island.

It was a great opportunity to invite friends to meet a great bunch of lads that are part of the Oxfordshire Freemasons, and I thoroughly recommend you all to have a go at the next opportunity, which is on 3rd July.
