Bro. Bill Butcher awarded Scouts’ Silver Acorn

A Little Bird (OK – W. Bro. Grahame Lee, Lodge Secretary of Gateway No. 8501) tell us of a wonderful tribute paid to W. Bro. Bill Butcher PPrAGDC (Oxon). Bill is a retired Police
Officer, is Gateway Lodge No. 8501’s Charity Steward and Lodge Mentor; he is also heavily involved in Scouting.

Bill has been awarded the Silver Acorn for Meritous Conduct in Scouting. It is one of Scouting’s highest awards and can only be considered for an adult who has completed a minimum of 20 years voluntary service to Scouting who has also gone the extra mile of further service of an excepional nature.

Here is the the District Commissioner of the Oxford Spires Scout District, presenting Bill with his Silver Acorn on St George’s Day this year.
