This year, as we all know, the Pantomime at Playhouse Theatre, hosted annually by Oxfordshire Freemasons, sadly had to be cancelled. (The 2nd Rising Editor was soooo looking forward to being a Dame for the first time. . . ! )
Unable to provide the whole matinee performance of 600 seats for children with physical disabilities, learning difficulties, or who are disadvantaged, the Pantomine Project team decided to give away 600 goody bags to the organisations that cater for the children.
As well our well known Pantomime Project, our Teddies for Loving Care team, as we all know, provide teddy bears to Accident and Emergency units at Hospitals and Minor Injury Units. When a distressed child goes to an emergency unit, the nursing staff can give the child a teddy bear to help them through their ordeal.
Each of the goody bags contained one of these teddies and a santa hat, as well as chocolate buttons from the Barry Callebaut chocolate factory in Banbury.
Goody bags were supplied to the following schools with special needs departments: Fitzwaryn, Wantage; Bardwell School, Bicester; Springfield School, Witney; Frank Wise School; Banbury; and to the following local charities: The Helen & Douglas House Hospice; SeeSaw; ADHD Society, Oxford; Downs Society, Oxford; and Endeavour Academy, Headington.
