Peter Jones, Secretray of Weyland Lodge No. 6507 has news of his latest fund-rasing extrvaganza:
“Brethren may recall that during our last fundraising festival in aid of the MSF, I was the Provincial Grand Charity Steward. My love of swimming prompted me to raise money for the Festival by swimming 2011 metres at several swimming pools around the Province.
I was given the nickname ‘Provincial Shark’ by the late W. Bro David Thomas when I succeeded him as the PrGChStwd in 2003!
My granddaughter, Amy, also swam 2011 metres with me at the final location in Bicester. She was aged only 12 years at that time in 2006. My total raised for that festival by completing the swims was £2,000.
I have now taken up the gauntlet again for our current Festival. On Saturday 9th October, I, together with granddaughter, Amy, and my two daughters, Sara and Catherine, will all be aiming to swim 2022 metres each (81 lengths!) at the Bicester Leisure Centre from 12.30 pm.”
